I Didn't Understand How This Show Kept Hitting #1 on Netflix—Until I Went to a Live Taping

It's like a soap opera for bros...a Broap Opera?

wwe raw netflix review

Do I like sports? Sure. (Looking for Taylor Swift at a Chiefs game qualifies as a sport, right?) Do I like drama? I'm an entertainment editor—damn right I do. So on paper, I'm probably supposed to like watching WWE wrestling. Yet, I've never really been able to bring myself to take it seriously. And when I found out that WWE Raw was the number one show on Netflix, I had a real WTF moment.

And that moment happened again when it hit number one the following week...and again the following week... Each Monday, a new episode of WWE Raw streams live on Netflix at 8pm EDT, and then, on Tuesday morning, the show sits atop the most-watched shows list. I was baffled. How could that many people be obsessed with this "sport"?

I decided it was time to take in a live taping over at Madison Square Garden in New York City. And after watching the drama, the fighting, the sheer spectacle of it all (I mean, there was a cage match in the middle of it), I had to admit: I kinda get it.
