Aesthetics and Noise Are 10/10
In terms of aesthetics, Mila definitely wins in this department compared to most other air purifiers, with their Brutalist and usually downright-industrial appearances. It’s sleek with a textured white exterior.
When it comes to noise, you can control the fan speed in manual mode and keep it to a minimum, but when it detects a rising AQI, it can get aggressive. Depending on the size of your space, it won’t last long, though, and I think the longest it’s ever blown full speed was for about 20 minutes, on the first day I set it up and the air purifier was acclimating to my room.
The Cons
My only main issue with Mila is the fact that filters aren’t recyclable. This isn’t a specific ding on the brand—in general, HEPA filters aren’t usually accepted in mainstream recycling programs, so you must toss it in the trash. Also, you may be tempted to clean it to extend the life...take it from me, who made a halfhearted attempt and don’t. I didn’t make it past ripping off an insignificant layer of dust, and water can damage the integrity of the filter.
Though Mila recommends changing the filter every six months, I actually recently got my first replacement, just shy of a year in. I think I was able to do that because I turn off my air purifier when I’m not home/traveling. If you keep your air purifier on 24/7, expect to need a change around the six month mark.
